I’m two weeks into the launch of my Epic Fantasy Gift of the Shaper and I couldn’t be happier. If you follow me on Facebook, you’ll know that not only is it my first book, but that I’m also well into writing the sequel. I meant it when I labeled Gift of the Shaper as “Book one of the HIGHGLADE series,” because I fully intend to keep writing more. Eventually, when I get the hang of it, I plan to use this blog as a vehicle for updates on the progress of the sequel (tentatively titled Three, Awaken). I’m gonna let you know right now that I’ve written 49 chapters for it already, and I’m pretty close to finishing it. I started writing it almost immediately after I finished the first one, so it was an easy transition. But I digress.
For now I’ll just catch you up.
First, I started a YouTube series for readings from Gift of the Shaper. The series is meant to be like a DVD commentary; it’s a companion to the book, and I have injects where I explain things like character name selection, inspiration, and thoughts on characters/plot/etc. I can almost guarantee that the video quality will improve over time as I slowly learn how to shoot and edit videos, but I can promise that I will always be (as one of my friends described me) “adorkable.” The YouTube videos are pure, unfiltered D.L. Jennings. Even more than this blog.
Next I found out how much fun it can be to donate a book to a library.
And lastly, I did a radio interview with Pursuit of Happiness Radio host Ken Webster, Jr., which you can read about here or listen to here.
That about does it for updates, but I would love to hear what you think. I’m pretty bored most of the time (I just wrote a whole fantasy novel. I have a lot of time on my hands), so I’d love to hear from you. Drop me a line sometime!
Thanks for reading.
