I found myself waiting in an airport with about 12 hours to kill, so I turned to the one thing that I know will help the hours fly by for me: writing.
One thing that I had always wanted to do, though, was work on a story through Wattpad. If you don’t know what Wattpad is, you may want to make sure your shoes are tied, because it’s going to knock your socks off: it’s a free platform for writers who want to get their work out there — and for readers to read those works. I had toyed around with the idea of collaborating with my Dad, bestselling author Ken Jennings, on a sci-fi story already, and he and I had discussed the idea of posting some of the chapters on Wattpad. This got me thinking about doing something similar, but for myself.
I’m the type of person who can’t ever sit still (I think a doctor might even refer to it as some sort of deficit of attention) and I’m always jumping around from project to project. Well, today is no exception as I have written not one, but TWO chapters in a new sci-fi story I’m currently titling “Lucky Us,” set in a future where humanity has mastered reality manipulation, and people called “Ripplers” hold the key to the multiverse.
If you want to check it out and follow my progress, you can do so right here: https://www.wattpad.com/user/dljennings
This is very much in the beginning stages so I’m not quite sure how I’ll handle updates, but as always if you sign up for my newsletter, I’ll let you know when anything major develops.
Until then, happy reading!
